No Scary Driving this Halloween-- Keep Trick-or-Treaters Safe

Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween, but not when it comes to child safety. There are several easy and effective behaviors that parents can share with kids to help reduce their risk of injury.

Halloween is a wonderful holiday, but because of increased foot traffic and that Trick-or-Treaters are out at night, the potential for automobile related accidents with young pedestrians increases four times on this night according to a CDC (Center for Disease Control) study. Help protect trick-or-treaters by following these driving safety tips on Halloween, or on the night your community hosts Halloween activities.

TxDOT Wants to Hear From You

The Texas Department of Transportation has been developing the first comprehensive and multimodal Texas Freight Mobility Plan that focuses on the state’s freight transportation needs. TxDOT released the Draft Texas Freight Mobility Plan for a 30-day public comment period beginning at 8:00am on October 9th. The comment period ends at 5:00pm on November 7th, 2015.

Distracted driving, which includes distraction, driver inattention or cell‐phone use, is becoming increasingly common and dangerous, causing traffic crashes and fatalities. 

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, in 2013, there were 94,943 traffic crashes in Texas that involved distracted driving (distraction, driver inattention or cell-phone use).
