City of San Antonio launches 311SA app to help identify municipal issues

This week the City of San Antonio will launch a new 311SA mobile application.  The mobile application was developed by local startup Cityflag and allows residents to report municipal issues to the City of San Antonio in a matter of minutes.

The application is available for download in the iTunes and Google Play online stores. Residents will now be able to upload photos of issues such as downed street signs, graffiti, or potholes and geotag them using Google Maps.

Reported issues then get highlighted in red until City employees acknowledge the problem which changes the color of the flag to yellow.  People using the app will even be able to see City employee comments and vote on the severity of specific ones.  Once the issues are addressed, the flag turns blue.

The City of San Antonio awarded Citiflag a two-year contract in 2017.  The team took almost a year to finish the application which includes the ability to upload photos directly from the users camera gallery and allows for greater, real-time citizen engagement.

The City of San Antonio and City Flag are co-hosting the official launch of the 311SA mobile app August 15, 2018 starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Geekdom Event Center.  You can RSVP for the free event here.
